WORSHIP
The
worship and glory of God is the fundamental purpose of
the church in all aspects of its corporate life. Therefore,
our vision for worship is to provide experiences and opportunities
which simultaneously give glory to God and nourish the
congregation in faithfulness to Jesus Christ. True worship
always seeks to foster both individual and communal discipleship
to Jesus Christ, the Head of the church.
As a Presbyterian congregation, St. Andrew inherits a rich tradition of
worship through our Reformed heritage. Central to this understanding of
worship is the public reading of Scripture, public and private prayer,
the preaching of the Word, the need for confession and repentance, the
call to Christian stewardship of time, talents, and money, the celebration
of Baptism and the Lords Supper, and the affirmation of the truth
of the gospel passed on to us by our fathers and mothers in the faith.
