Super Wednesday
January 11-April 25, 2012
5:30-7:30pm

A mainstay in St. Andrew's educational programming is our Super Wednesday ministry. We begin each Wednesday evening with a meal, and then break out into a variety of program opportunities for every member of the family. In addition to a nursery for very small children, we have choir and recreation for elementary children, middle and high school fellowship, and adult options that range from a Bible study to guitar 101 lessons.
NoteSuper Wednesday will not be held March 21.

Handbell Choir
Adult Choir Room, 6:20pm
Handbells offer a way to participate in the worship life of St. Andrew. This choir is intergenerational and its members are drawn from the congregation, although we usually have a few non-members who also participate, making it a part of our outreach efforts. The choir is open to ringers from high school through adults and we play during the worship service several times during the year, usually during Advent, Lent, and the Easter season.
Ability to read music is strongly recommended but previous ringing experience is not required. The desire to learn and commitment to consistent attendance are the most important qualifications for ringers. Middle school students with musical experience may be accepted into the group after consultation with the director.

Quilting
Rec Center Mezzanine, 6:30 pm
Led by Nancy Griffin and Elizabeth Hagen, the quilters of St. Andrew work on various quilting and craft projects.

Adult SW Studies

This We Believe
January 11-April 18, 2012
Fellowship Hall, 6:30pm, Steve Plunkett
Interested in the basic beliefs of Presbyterians? Steve wrote a book, This We Believe: Eight Truths Presbyterians Affirm, several years ago and will lead this track on his book throughout the spring semester. If you are new the Presbyterian Church, or if you’d like a refresher course, here’s your chance to become better acquainted with the ABCs of Presbyterian beliefs. The class will combine lecture and class discussion, so feel free to come and bring your questions. We’ll wrestle with them together.

Seven Days in Utopia
January 11-February 15, 2012
Room 200, 6:30pm, Darhyl Ramsey
Life often leaves us with a sense of frustration that can be overwhelming. With golf as its setting, the book Golf's Sacred Journey:  Seven Days in Utopia provides us with a way to deal with frustration and life’s issues that often lead us off track. We will read the book by David Cook, watch the recent movie based on his book, and discuss the ways that the book’s message can affect our lives.

Beginning Social Media
March 21-April 18, 2012
Room 200, 6:30pm, Lou Korom
More and more of our lives are being lived online. It isn’t just email; it’s Facebook, Twitter, Blogging, and Mobile Computing. This class will help you navigate the confusion of online communication. Join us as we go hands on with the technology and observe social media’s influence in public life.

A Long Obedience in the Same Direction
January 11-February 29, 6:30pm
Room 202, Amy Cole & Stephanie Raesz
Discipleship is hard. In his book, A Long Obedience in the Same Direction: Discipleship in an Instant Society, Eugene Peterson not only instructs us in his considerable wisdom about authentic discipleship, he helps us see the passion and excitement of living lives fully devoted to Jesus. Come and explore what this means for your life through reading the Songs of Ascents, Psalms 120-134, and discussing them in this small group. You may purchase or borrow a book.
Book Cost:  $8.00

Marriage Enrichment
March 7-April 18, 6:30pm
Parlor, Hank and Regina Hunt
Marriage can be one of the greatest parts of the human experience. Sadly, that is not always the case. What makes good marriages even better? What can couples do to maintain and strengthen their marriages? What should they avoid doing? There are seven principles that virtually guarantee a healthy marriage if marriage partners will practice them. What are they? Those are the questions that we will explore in depth with Hank and Regina Hunt.

Final Super Wednesday Hymn Fest
April 25, Fellowship Hall, 6:30pm
Join us for a rousing hour of music as we bring the spring semester of Super Wednesday activities to a close. We’ll hear from our children’s choirs, even singing a hymn or two with them. We’ll also hear our handbell choir ring. Plan to join us in Fellowship Hall the last Wednesday evening in April this spring.
