Mission Giving
Basic Mission Support is one of our primary means of global Christian outreach, as we give to the ministry and mission of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). A percentage of our total budget is given each year to the work of Grace Presbytery, the Synod of the Sun, and the General Assembly, a tangible sign of our commitment to the whole church. The Presbyterian Mission Yearbook provides an annual overview of the work of our denomination within the United States as well as internationally.
We also give financial support to the following organizations and agencies in our Mission budget each year.
• Goodland Academy for Boys, Hugo, Oklahoma • The Menaul School of New Mexico • Presbyterian Children's Homes and Services of Texas • Theological Education Fund of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)

Lend a Helping Hand to Kairos House? Yes, We Can!
So many of you have quickly responded to our request for funds for new sofa beds for Kairos House in Guatemala City. You gave a total of $1,370 and we are grateful! We learned of their need for more sleeping spaces during our Spring Break mission trip to Guatemala in March. Kairos House is a safe haven for families with children hospitalized for cancer treatment, with as many as 45 people staying in a space designed for 25. We met our goal of $800 for Kairos House and then some--Thank You St. Andrew!
Mission in Action
The children collected $1683 for water filters during Mission Quest and the $1,500 partnership money from the Birthday Endowment income totaled $3,313, which was used to purchase water filters for Guatemalan families without access to clean drinking water. The Glicks were able to provide between 55-60 low-income families in Guatemala with a 5 gallon bucket and a water filter for each household.

Thank you, St. Andrew, for stepping up to make a difference where it really counts.
Support for Heifer International
The children of St. Andrew also collected money for Heifer International during Mission Quest in July; they sold lemonade and sought funds from family and friends to raise $211. They earmarked the funds to be used to buy a goat and a flock of chicks. The Sojourner Sunday school class has also raised funds for Heifer International, $1000 to be exact.
Thank you for helping provide impoverished people with the means to sustain themselves and their families. For more information about Heifer International, visit http://www.heifer.org.
Spring Break Mission Trip
Each year we send an intergenerational team of college students and other members of the congregation to Guatemala, to work with the Glicks, who are serving as missionaries in Guatemala City. As we participate in this cross-cultural mission trip we experience God at work in the world. Our commitment to Jesus Christ is deepened and our Christian worldview is expanded. These experiences encourage us to discover more about ourselves as we deepen our relationships with God and others.
While in Guatemala City we serve at Kairos House, a hospital ministry of compassion to families whose children have cancer, Casita Benjamin, a preschool and daycare center next to the huge city dump, as well as help with construction projects at local churches.
High School Youth Summer Mission Trip June 26-July 2, 2011
Brandon Lewis, adult sponsors, and a group of our high school youth will head to Arkansas June 26-July 2, 2011. Brandon and the Youth committee collaborate with YouthWorks to plan and organize the youth summer mission trips. The high school youth from First Presbyterian Church, Fort Worth, and their Associate Pastor for Youth, Josh Stewart, will be joining with Brandon and our youth to serve together again this year.
This year's trip will be to the small town of Marvell, Arkansas, which is located in one of the poorest counties in the USA. The group will help put on a sports camp and kids' club, in addition to doing home improvement projects for local families. Contact

We Drink Pura Vida Coffee

Did you know that coffee is the second most traded commodity in the world? Well, it is! And each cup of coffee we drink at St. Andrew helps make a positive difference in the lives of poor coffee farmers in Central and South America and elsewhere around the globe. Why? Because we drink Pura Vida coffee. If you’d like to learn more about Pura Vida’s mission or purchase some of their fair trade coffee, visit their website: www.puravidacoffee.com. You’ll be glad you did.
Peacemaking Seminar
