PRESBYTERIAN WOMEN

All women of the church are cordially invited to become members of the Presbyterian Women. The hand of friendship and a warm welcome await you. The purpose of the Presbyterian Women is to nurture our faith through prayer and Bible study; to support the mission of the church worldwide; to work for justice and peace; to build an inclusive and caring community of women that strengthens the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.); and witness to the promise of God’s Kingdom.
Presbyterian Women meet monthly in small groups for Bible study. It also meets as a larger group several times a year for special programming. Prayer, visitation, and craft activities are also part of their activities.

Activities of the Presbyterian Women include:
General Meetings
On Tuesday, April 15th, the women of the church will gather for coffee in the parlor at 9:30 am, followed at 10:00 by a presentation from Georgia Carraway, Ph.D., entitled “A Few of My Favorite Things.”

All women meet the third Tuesday of every month (except July and August) for programs and fellowship.
Association of Christian Women meet on the fifth Tuesday of the month.

Circle Meetings
Women are encouraged to join a circle for Bible study and fellowship. The following are smaller groups which meet in individual homes or the parlor:
Circle I Second Tuesday-9:30 a.m.
Circle II Second Tuesday-9:30 a.m.
Circle III Second Monday-7:00 p.m.
Circle IV Second Tuesday-2:00 p.m.

The Horizons Bible study is “Above and Beyone: Hearing God's Call in Jonah and Ruth”

Business Meetings
Scheduled for the first Tuesday of the month.

World Mission
Each fall the Presbyterian Women support local and worldwide missions by receiving a special Thank Offering. This offering is used to provide grants to new and creative projects that meet the needs of hurting people and are in accordance with mission concerns and policies of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). In addition, annual grants are provided to oversee hospitals and community health programs that place their greatest priority of helping the most vulnerable members of God’s community. The Birthday Offering is received each spring to meet a major mission need. This offering is in celebration of the women of the church and is used for predetermined projects.

Sewing Opportunities
The women meet twice a year for sewing days and to gather ongoing sewing for baby layettes and sweaters to mail to our missions.

Least Coin
All women give only the smallest of their currency each month at Circle meetings and at the general meeting of the Presbyterian Women each spring. These coins become a large amount in the same way individual prayers offered by many members throughout the world bring about reconciliation and peace.

Honorary Life Membership is awarded to an individual for faithful service in some area of the church’s work. Prayer Group meets in the church parlor on the fourth Tuesday of every month at 9:30 a.m. After prayer, homebound members are visited.

All women are invited to participate in the Presbyterian Women. If interested, please call the church office at (940) 387-3897 or e-mail us at info@saint-andrew.com. For a full listing of the dates and times for all PW activities, call Beverly Burdett, (940) 382-4930.
