Recently, I have been
asked two questions which many of you might also
be asking. Question 1: "Are we really having
worship on Christmas Day just
after we have celebrated Christ's birth on
Christmas Eve?" Absolutely. We know that
many of you have family traditions for Christmas
Day, so consider how your traditions might be
enhanced by gathering with your St. Andrew
family at 10:30 am Christmas morning to hear
again the story of Christ's birth, share in
fellowship, and sing some of your favorite
carols. To entice your family, come as you are
on Christmas morning. If you are sitting around
the Christmas tree Sunday morning in your
pajamas or sweats, no need to change--the
fashion police will be on vacation. If you have
that ugly sweater you always wear on Christmas,
wear it to church and see who is wearing an even
uglier (I mean more unique) sweater. There will
be no nursery on Christmas morning - we want the
whole family, from youngest to oldest, to share
in the worship.
As an added bonus, we
will be making a giant Chrismon during our
worship Christmas morning. We have been "looking
for Chrismons" during Advent, and on Christmas
morning we will find our final Chrismon with
material you bring. Take a photo of where you
have found Christ alive or have the kids draw a
picture of where they have found Christ alive,
and bring it to worship Christmas morning. We
will take all our photos, drawings, etc (try to
bring something the size of 3X5 or 4X6 notecard)
and build a collage for our final Chrismon. Come
as you are and bring your example of when you
have seen Christ alive!
Question 2: "Where should
I direct a little 'extra' year-end
giving?"
Some of us are
looking for places where a little "extra" giving
will make a difference this time of year. At St.
Andrew, here are three areas I would suggest: 1.
General budget. As we move into
November, the expenses exceed the giving for the
year by about $10,000. Members are meeting their
pledge commitments, but we need a little "extra"
to finish the year in the black. 2.
Endowment fund. Our Endowment
fund supports both mission and maintenance of
the church property. An "extra" gift to the
Endowment fund will support both for years to
come. 3. Mission projects. If
one of our mission projects has a special place
in your heart, an "extra" gift for that
particular ministry will be greatly
appreciated.
Yours in
Christ,
Richard

Parents'
Night Out Parents'
Night Out is a program for the young families of
St. Andrew. The program has a two-fold purpose:
it gives parents an opportunity to spend quality
time together without their children and it
gives the children an evening of fun, with
age-appropriate activities, with their friends
at St. Andrew. The evening begins at
4:00pm-8:00pm, for infants-3 yr. olds, in the
Nursery. In the Rec. Center, 4 yr.
olds-elementary age will meet from
4:00pm-9:00pm. We ask parents to make
reservations no later than Thursday, the week of
PNO. Please email Ms. Sue at: toddlerqueen2@gmail.com, or
call at 940-300-9262, for reservations.

Pagosa
Cabin Sign-up
By now most of
you are aware that the Pagosa Springs, CO cabin
will no longer be available to St. Andrew after
Labor Day, 2017. The owner has decided to sell
it. We are grateful to have had use of it for
the past 13 years.
If
you wish to rent the cabin in 2017, contact
Jim
White at jim@saint-andrew.com,
preferably by e-mail and give me your 3 top
choices of a week you'd like to have. I need
your choices by Jan. 1, 2017. We'll then conduct
a drawing at the first or second weekly staff
meeting in Jan. 2017. I'll then contact the
winners later that week. Each week is available
for selection from June 11th until September 3rd
except for the weeks of July 16th and July 23rd.
The rate schedule remains as it was
this year: for this summer period of
June-August, 2017 each group agrees to a minimum
stay of 5 nights. The maximum length of stay is
7 nights i.e. Saturday night through the
following Friday night, leaving no later than
noon the next day. For up to 6 people, the
weekly cost is $500, for 7-10 people the cost is
$700 and for more than 10 people, the cost is
$1,000. (Non-members add $100 to each of the
above 3 categories).
As in the past, a
$100 deposit to secure your group's stay, is
required. Steps to obtain a partial or complete
refund remain unchanged.
