The Shield | St. Andrew Presbyterian Church
Memorial Day Means Summer Hours Begin at St. Andrew
Summer hours for the St. Andrew office and building begin the day after Memorial Day, May 31.

Monday through Friday, the office will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. until Labor Day, September 5. The church doors will be unlocked during these weekday hours. Special arrangements for certain doors to be open beyond these hours will be made for specific church activities.

The St. Andrew telephones will be answered on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. by Derek Shorethose, the office administrator, a very familiar face and the individual who will greet members and visitors. He will then direct calls, members and visitors to the pastors, appropriate staff members or their voice mail. Members and visitors may see Derek helping with other St. Andrew activities and Our Daily Bread beyond the summer hours.

Prior to 9 a.m. and after 2 p.m., on weekdays and weekends, an answer machine will pick up phone calls made to the main number, 940-387-3897. Callers will be able to enter specific extension numbers to leave messages for pastors and staff members. Members and visitors may meet with pastors and staff members during the same summer hours or by making appointments with specific individuals.

These new hours allow Lou Korom, office manager and communications coordinator, to focus and concentrate on creating and distributing communications and special projects for St. Andrew.

Derek can be reached via email at derek@saint-andrew.com and Lou can be reached at lou@saint-andrew.com.
Church Office Closed for Memorial Day
The church office will be closed in observance of Memorial Day on Monday, May 30.
Passing the Peace
We will begin the tradition of 'passing the peace' in our June worship services.
As we, who are ambassadors for Christ (2 Cor. 5:20), greet one another in worship, let us pass the peace of Christ, not simply as the greeting of our pew neighbor, but as our heart felt hope that our neighbor and our world will experience Christ's peace and reconciling love.
Jesus greeted his disciples with "Peace be with you" (Luke 24:36).  Let us also greet one another in the same manner following Jesus example.
Church Office Phone Problems
For quite some time, St. Andrew's church office has had severe issues with the phone service that it has with Frontier Communications. The church staff is on the phone with Frontier every day during the work week trying to make progress. We in the church office appreciate your patience during this time. Please email church office staff with any needs that you may have in the interim. A full staff email list is available at: https://www.saint-andrew.com/staff/
Chancel Flowers
The Sundays of July 3, 10, 17, and 24 are available for chancel flowers. If you would like to sign up for any of these dates, please do so on the flower roster. The roster is located on the bulletin board next to the office. Lynn Carrico will contact you before your Sunday.

Vacation Bible School Registration Now Open
June 27-July 1, 9am-12pm
Vacation Bible School registration is now open at www.saint-andrew.com/vbs. This year's curriculum is titled "Surf Shack: Catch the Wave of God's Amazing Love!" At the "Surf Shack" kids encounter God's awesomeness through Bible stories and learn how we're meant to experience the adventure each day. The children will study stories of the Bible that will teach us how to experience God's amazing love, explore God's mission for our lives, encounter powerful water stories from the Bible, and discover ways to live out God's amazing love. We are all looking forward to a fun week!
The children will be provided with a snack during the week. Please send your children in clothes that can withstand paint stains, grass stains, energetic activity, and survive. We will run, dance, play, sing, paint, experiment, and eat, and we want your children to be able to do all of these activities without having to worry about keeping clothes clean. For our preschoolers, it is always a good idea to pack an extra set of clothes in case of an accident.
Don't forget to bring your mission items! We will be donating water bottles, bug repellent, sunscreen, deodorant (male & female), disposable razors, and toothbrushes  to Our Daily Bread - the soup kitchen located at St. Andrew. Our neighbors at Our Daily Bread need extra water for the hot summers and food to keep them healthy.

Summer After-Worship Fellowship Time
