Dear
Parents,
The Children's Ministry Committee is
pleased to announce that we will be offering our sexuality education program to
elementary school age children in grades 2-5 and their parents again this
spring. As you might recall, we have
offered this program every other year since 2006, and it has been very well
received by both children and their parents.
The classes will be using the same wonderful curriculum that we have
used in the past called "Our Sexuality: A Gift from God".
If you are interested in learning more
about the classes, please plan to join us on Sunday, March 21 from 3:30-5:00 pm upstairs in rooms
206/208 as we will offer a parent forum.
The parent forum is intended to give parents the opportunity to ask any
questions that they might have in regards to content of the curriculum that
will be covered in the classes. We
strongly encourage all parents to attend this session.
We are thrilled to announce that we have a
wonderful group of class leaders planned for this spring. Many of them will be there to answer your
questions at the parent forum. These
leaders include the well-respected voices of local pediatricians, Dr. David
Goff, Dr. Karen Goff, and Dr. Jeffrey Day, as well as Nurse Heather Dires. Most of the questions that you and your
children will bring to the classes have been answered by each of them many
times in their busy practices. They will
be joined by our other leaders including Marissa Glasschroeder, Natalie Garcia,
David Hines, Robin Hines, Stephanie Raesz, Tara Brindle, and myself. Our leaders offer a wide variety of expertise
and have wealth of experience in regards to helping children.
The classes will take place concurrently
in different rooms of the church from 3:30-5:00
pm the Sundays of April 11, 18, and 25. There will be four
different groups: 2 & 3 graders, 4 & 5 graders, parents of 2 & 3
graders, and parents of 4 & 5 graders.
We are very excited about offering these
classes to our children and their parents. This is an opportunity to talk about our
sexuality as a gift from God. It is an
opportunity to give our children and their parents the gift of knowledge that
enables them to have a healthy view of their bodies and sexuality, and that
encourages them to make healthy choices.
Childcare will be provided during the
parent forum as well as during all of the classes. If you have any questions, please feel free
to talk to me or Lisa Patterson as we would be happy to help.
Peace
and grace,
Michael
